  • He followed in Johan Cruyff's footsteps, who joined the Mexican football club in Guadalajara as a technical advisor at the beginning of the year. There is no doubt that the training sessions held by Priva's Koos Wijsman for the dealers in the North and Latin American countries had a longer-lasting effect. In any case, the progress made by the course participants is remarkable.

In week 12 of this year, Koos Wijsman, Field Engineer, visited Mexico to provide technical training for the North and Latin American Priva dealers at the Ceickor training institute. Ceickor is a private initiative for covered horticulture. Various companies participate in this, including Priva. Ceickor is located a stone's throw away from the Agropark, a rapidly expanding horticultural area where a considerable number of extremely modern companies have since established themselves.

    A quick boost

Asked for his opinion on the area, the companies and the quality of the dealers' employees, Koos Wijsman replied: "I am quite impressed by the technical level of the companies established at Agropark. The North and Latin American markets have a huge potential. In my opinion the combination of Agropark and Ceickor has a radiating effect towards these markets and might give a quick boost to further modernisation and automation.

The fact that as many as fifteen engineers from the various dealers were in attendance already started to give Koos Wijsman a positive feeling about the training week. "That exceeded all of our expectations", confirmed Niels van Rooyen, Priva's Regional Manager for Latin America. Koos Wijsman, his colleague Jimmy Jaktlund and Niels van Rooyen were jointly responsible for the training week at Ceickor.

    Clear structure

In advance, the training room was equipped with three Priva Intégro/Priva Connext systems and the necessary software tools were installed on the PCs that were present. Six days of intensive training followed, and these training sessions were structured to provide attendees with an abundance of information. The first step involved hardware, sensors and networks. Next, came the most important climate controls, heat management, water controls, Priva Vialux and Vialux maintenance. The third step comprised the Priva Connext process computer, updating to software version 730/903, software tools, web production and systematically trouble shooting.

  • The general conclusion seemed to be that the training was comprehensive and a relatively lengthy program. Fortunately, there was adequate variety. Midway through the week, maintenance on Vialux at the company Hydro Foods was featured on the schedule, including a chance to view the boiler house, where heat and CO2 are managed extensively.

    Practical experience

"In addition to this, I tried to create as much variety as possible by regularly incorporating blocks with practice exercise on the systems in the training room", explains Koos Wijsman.

He concludes with satisfaction that the results of the training were positive. "I found it extremely motivating to witness the progress that was being made. Most of the participants were still having quite some problems with networks at the beginning of the week. By the end of the course they were able to successfully create and configure an extensive network with multiple Priva Connext systems and various sub-stations."

The harmonious cooperation between the technicians of the various Priva dealers was an additional success.

    Detecting faults

The development of knowledge was tested at the end of the training week by means of a practical assignment. "Rather meanly, Jimmy Jaktlund and I sabotaged the networks with a number of faults that were difficult to find. The participants successfully detected all of the faults and managed to get the systems fully operational again. All in all, a very successful training week," concluded Koos Wijsman. For the course participants, the intensive week was rounded off with the presentation of the well-earned certificates.
