<p>This year, Priva Connext program version 904, in combination
with Priva Office Direct 5, brings a number of important
improvements that concern, the gap control, rotating growing light
and dealing with climate differences. Consumption dashboards have
been added to Priva Office Direct where indicators for the energy
consumption and the corresponding costs or savings are presented at
operating level per installation type.</p>

<h2><strong>New gap control prevents cold snaps</strong></h2>

<p>The current gap control has been enhanced with the option to
control the curtain intelligently and in steps. Using a gap can,
after all, result in climate shocks and unnecessary energy losses
when there are large climate differences between the air above and
below the curtain. These negative consequences can be minimized by
controlling the gap in small steps and stopping immediately when
the required removal of humidity and/or energy has be achieved. In
short, the updated control offers you a more stable climate without
cold snaps, it prevents unnecessary energy losses and is easy to
operate without all kinds of influences.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The project is being constructed on the island that is seen as
the 'green lung' of Shanghai. The whole island is a large
agricultural park, where only activities connected with
agriculture, the horticulture industry or ecological tourism take
place.</p>

<h2><strong>More with less</strong></h2>

<p>The NERCPA (National Engineering Research Center of Protected
Agriculture)project consists of a two hectare glass greenhouse,
equipped to replicate a Dutch greenhouse. It is a national project,
which makes it particularly important that the greenhouse should be
of superior quality, as the eyes of China will be on this
horticultural project. The intention behind NERCPA is to prove that
the use of modern, sustainable technologies can increase the
production of tomatoes, among other things, while consuming less
energy and water.<br />
For this reason, the project makes use of ATES: Aquifer Thermal
Energy Storage. In this way, less energy will be consumed for
cooling and heating the greenhouse. Priva will also use NERCPA as a
training centre, where Chinese growers can learn how to achieve
energy-efficient cultivation through the optimum use of modern
facilities and the latest products and methods.</p>

<h2><strong>Dutch consortium</strong></h2>

<p>The project is the result of the special relationship between
Priva, SAAS (Shanghai Academy for Agricultural Sciences) and Dushi
Green. It is being implemented by Priva and its dealers Dushi
Green, <a href="http://www.arend-sosef.com/" target="_blank"
title="ArendSosef">ArendSosef</a> and <a
href="http://www.janvoshol.nl/uk/ukhome" target="_blank"
title="Voshol">Voshol</a>.</p>

<p>The greenhouse was designed by the BOM group, but is being
constructed by Dushi Green. Furthermore, everything is being
supplied by Dutch partners: Voshol is carrying out the
installation, Installect is providing the design for the ATES,
ArendSosef is taking care of the irrigation and Codema is
responsible for the internal pump circuits. In March of this year,
all the partners met in the Netherlands to coordinate the various
activities. The project will be launched in April 2013. The
kick-off meeting will take place in Shanghai on April 9th, at
which, Priva, Voshol, Installect and Dushi Green will also be
present. The goal is to be able to deliver an outstanding project
by July 2013.</p>

<p>It was obvious choice that Niels van Rooyen decided to showcase
Priva's products and services at the Fair. The hall was filled with
more than 70 Brazilian flower, plant and tomato growers. This high
turnout, which impressed our partners too, was partly thanks to the
impending change in how growers think here. The good economic
development of recent years in Brazil has lead to higher costs.
People have to start working more efficiently as a result of this.
In addition, the quality requirements on the end product are higher
and vegetable production is becoming more professional.
Furthermore, a generational change is taking palace in the
companies; the younger generation are more receptive to technology.
All in all, it was a very positive and spirited evening.</p>

<p>The meeting was set up in collaboration with Andres da Silva
from EACEA, who worked together in this with our dealer <a

<p>The training was intended for the mid-end dealers and centred on
the Priva Maximizer, a cost-effective, easy-to-use control system,
specifically developed for the greenhouse. The aim was to increase
the participants' knowledge of the Priva Maximizer so that they
could make optimal use of the product.<br />
The instructors were very pleased with the participants. Alfredo
Morales said, "it was a great group who asked many questions during
the sessions and brought up problems that help to develop the
training. This made the training dynamic and productive." Jimmy
Jaktlund noted that the training had "an outstanding group of
technicians, each and every one of them was very intelligent and
proactive. It was an outstanding training course."</p>

<p>When the course finished, the group were able to exchange ideas
and experiences over drinks. It was an informative day for the
participants. A number of other training courses are planned for
2013. Sharing knowledge and know-how is one of Priva's
ambitions.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>CCIPPP (Centro de Capacitación, Innovación y Producción Popoyán
Priva) has been set up as a production campus where innovative,
successful horticulture technologies are demonstrated and explained
and their capabilities are tested under local conditions.
Vegetables are produced using the latest horticulture practices and
there is capacity for research by other companies in the production
chain. CCIPPP concentrates on advancing horticulture in Guatemala
and surrounding Central American countries.</p>

<p>CCIPPP is a joint venture between Popoyán and Priva. The
training centre site covers 2.5 hectares of greenhouses, where two
hectares are for production and training and half a hectare is for
research projects. In addition to this, the site has offices, an
irrigation area and a modern auditorium. Tomatoes and paprikas are
grown in the greenhouses. A further expansion of the production and
training facilities is planned for 2015.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>About Popoyán</strong></h2>

<p>Popoyán has been involved in innovation in the agriculture
industry for more than thirty years. CCIPPP initiatives dovetail
with Popoyán's core activities of introducing innovative solutions
to the region and thereby increasing production. The arrival of the
CCIPPP training centre makes new technology available to the
growers in the region.</p>

<h2><strong>Why is Priva involved?&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Priva offers growers worldwide solutions for realizing their
growing ambitions. Growers who participate in CCIPPP learn how they
can increase their production in a responsible manner. Using
Priva's technological solutions and the right knowledge, they
achieve an increase in production with less use of water and
energy. In addition to this, methods are supplied to reduce the use
of pesticides in the horticulture industry or even to eradicate use
completely.</p>

<p>Priva has plans to open a total of ten international training
centers in the coming years, with the aim of helping horticultural
entrepreneurs around the globe to achieve their
ambitions.&nbsp;CCIPPP was made possible by a subsidy from NL EVD
International's PSI (Private Sector Investment program).</p>
